1000 jobs will be created in Queensland after the Government finally gave the approval for the Grosvenor Cole Mine near Moranbah.
At a cost of $1.7 billion, both State and Federal Government have signed off on the deal which will include a mine workers camp. A dispute over environmental approvals between state and federal government has not delayed the final decision as it has in the Galilee basin.
“The Queensland Government will work closely with the company and the Moranbah community to address key issues such as accommodation availability and infrastructure support,” Queensland Mines Minister Andrew Cripps said.
The new mine is thought to be capable of producing up to five million tonnes of product coal per annum for export.
